Welcome to The Quick Six Interview with Sarah Speedie!

We last welcomed Sarah Speedie to the blog to talk about her gorgeous picture book, Boss Cat (interview here). Today she’s here with another vivacious title; Wild About Book Week. With the impending arrival of our favourite bookish time of the year, this book couldn’t come at a better time, and the best thing about it is the fun and ‘wild’ antics and joys of character dress-ups! WHO wrote, illustrated and published this book?
WILD ABOUT BOOK WEEK was written by myself, Sarah Speedie. It was illustrated by the very talented Kruti Desai and published by the team at Larrikin House.

WHAT is it about?
WILD ABOUT BOOK WEEK is the story of a child who has so many favourite books that they can’t decide what costume to wear for their Book Week Parade. The whole family gets involved with the costume selection and everyone has a lot of fun trying on loads of different costumes.

What is your favourite part of this book?
I really love Kruti’s colourful illustrations, they are full of life and movement. My favourite part of the story would have to be the last few spreads, when the protagonist comes up with a clever solution to their costume selection problem. You’ll have to read the book to see what it is!

When is its release / launch date?
WILD ABOUT BOOK WEEK was released on July 3rd. Its launch will be held on Tuesday 30th July, 11am at the Sandringham Library in Melbourne. Everyone is welcome!

HOW do you feel about the illustrations / cover design? How do they convey
the feeling or mood you envisioned?
Kruti’s illustrations are absolutely wonderful. They are fun, colourful and full of movement and life. The same is true for the gorgeous cover that she has illustrated, it captures the feel of the book perfectly.

How have you promoted this book and how can we find it?
WILD ABOUT BOOK WEEK has been promoted via social media as well as via a number of different book reviewers and podcasts. It is available in all good book shops and online.

Thank you, Sarah, for sharing another one of your fantastic books with us! Happy Book Week! 🙂
