Whether you are new to writing and illustrating for children, curious about it, or have been in the industry for years, SCBWI events are sure to provide you with stimulating speakers and inspiration. Our first event for 2019 will be held on 16 February at Library at the Dock.
Our guest speaker will be Davina Bell, the Senior Editor of the kids list at Affirm Press and an award-winning writer. She will share gems she has collected through her observations as a writer and editor.
We will also hear from children’s book author and writing teacher Carole Poustie, who is a prize-winning poet with work published in a variety of literary journals and magazines.
Illustrator and author Laura Stitzel has been working in the animation industry in Melbourne and Canada for the past ten years. Laura will discuss what kids’ cartoons taught her about making books for children.

All SCBWI events are open to non-members and we encourage you to pop along to an event, mingle with like-minded creators and enjoy a lovely bit of afternoon tea while overlooking the water view.
We hope you can join us.
