Matt B Lewis is an author and illustrator of children’s books, passionate about introducing kids to the joy of reading at a very early age. Matt B Lewis is also on a grand mission! His aim is to get a copy of his latest, hilarious story ‘A KILLER WHALE CAN’T EAT KALE’ into 500 schools, for FREE!
Matt’s new children’s story ‘A KILLER WHALE CAN’T EAT KALE’ lets kids know that it’s ok, and even fun, sometimes to eat healthy. This engaging story has been road tested with several year one classes with great success and aligns to the curriculum on ‘Healthy Eating’. Written in snappy rhyme, it has kids giggling and laughing all the way to the end (but watch out! There’s a twist!) – as educators you understand the importance of rhyming books to develop lifelong readers.
The story centres on Doug. He loves eating kale, but there’s only one problem. Doug is a Killer Whale and his friends don’t like him eating all that healthy stuff. Follow along as Doug tries to save various sea creatures from becoming dinner for his friends, by offering healthy alternatives. The last page in the book is an information sheet on ORCAS (Killer whales), which the kids find fascinating.
The characterisation in the book is both engaging and educational, making it appealing to a broad target audience. The specific target audience would be the K – 3 (0-8) range. Matt’s illustration style is fun, relaxed and engaging and appeals to both kids and adults alike.
500 BOOKS INTO AUSSIE SCHOOLS INITIATIVE
To reach Matt’s goal of donating copies to 500 Aussie schools he has started a funding project on Pozible.
By pledging to buy a book (or a number of books!) you are generously helping to buy copies of ‘A KILLER WHALE CAN’T EAT KALE’ that will then be donated on your behalf to primary schools, kindergartens or early childhood centres right across the country. You can even choose the school/s if you like.
